SURF LIFESAVING

 

WHAT WILL STUDENTS LEARN?
Students will learn:

  • to improve their basic swimming techniques

  • about both swimming and general fitness programs

  • water safety
     

Students will learn the requirements for the Surf Lifesaving Bronze Medallion:

  • Basic First Aid

  • Resuscitation and CPR

  • Emergency Management

  • Using rescue equipment

  • Surf Safety - Understanding the ocean’s movements and swimming safely in the ocean

  • Communication skills – radio and personal communications

  • Occupational Health and Safety

 

HOW WILL STUDENTS LEARN?

Students will learn through a range of practical and theoretical experiences.

They will attend classroom lessons, pool lessons and on-­‐site lessons at the Wye River Surf Lifesaving Club. Students will be expected to attend at least one weekend camp and a six day Bronze Medallion Camp in Term 4.

 

HOW WILL STUDENTS BE ASSESSED?

Students will be assessed in a variety of practical and theoretical tests, culminating in the Surf Bronze Medallion examination run by Surf Lifesaving Victoria.
