VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN

 

WHAT WILL STUDENTS LEARN?

Visual Communication Design is a hands­‐on subject. Student learn to communicate ideas and information through the use of:

  • Drawing conventions

  • Design elements and principles

  • Skills, techniques and processes

Students combine these fundamentals of design to create visual solutions to a design challenge.

 

HOW WILL STUDENTS LEARN?

Students will learn by researching, investigating, and creating designs for a particular need or purpose. To achieve this students may use the following applications:

  • observational and representation drawing

  • instrumental drawing (perspective, praline and plan)

  • letter form (typography)

  • signs and symbols

  • architectural, commercial and environmental design

  • element and principles of design (colour, shape, tone, texture, etc.)

  • the role and practices of designers

 

HOW WILL STUDENTS BE ASSESSED?

Students will be assessed on the content and presentation of their visual diary and major design pieces.
