On Wednesday May 2nd, the Year 10 Science VCE Prep class headed to the Victorian Bioscience Education Centre in Geelong.
Here the students used cutting edge technologies such as gel electrophoresis and microscopic techniques, to unlock the secrets of mystery athletes and gain a better understanding of the role our DNA plays in sporting success and injury.
A fantastic day was had by all our netballers for Winter sport on Tuesday May 22nd. Although the weather wasn’t all that good, with misty rain for the majority of the day our 2 teams played very well, showing great sportsmanship and team spirit against Trinity College, Apollo Bay and Lorne. Thankyou to our two coaches Michelle Winch and Kat Featherstone, also to our team helpers Dana Lucas and Leah Graham.
Senior Football Thanks to a number of Year 9 boys volunteering to play, we were able to put a Senior Football team together and on Tuesday May 15th we went across to Central Reserve for our annual match against Trinity. The match was played in perfect conditions and our boys started the game well, however it soon became obvious that the odds were stacked against us. Despite the superior size and skill level of the opposition all the CSC players stuck to their tasks and played
Congratulations to all students who participated in the cross country on Wednesday. The enthusiasm and effort by all competitors was the highlight and it made for an enjoyable start to the day. I would also like to thank the staff who supervised the checkpoints and provided encouragement for all our competitors. The individual winners will be recognized at our next assembly. Well done to those students who have been selected in the Colac Secondary College Cross Country team
This week our Year 10 students have been out and about on Work Experience. We would like to thank all local & district businesses who have hosted our students for the week & also to our Careers Manager Kaye Potter for working closely with our students and businesses to ensure a successful program.
As part of the Doctors in Secondary Schools Program, an adolescent-trained General Practitioner Dr Robyn Walker (from Colac Area Health Services) will be available at Colac Secondary College each Thursday to provide free access to primary health care for our secondary students. A Community Health Nurse, Carolyn Cole, will also be in attendance. Nikita Riches wins 2nd place at the Colac Gun Club Clay Target Shooting Competition On April 26th Colac Secondary College students enjoyed a great day of training and competition at the Colac Gun Club range. Our students were involved in the interschool clay target shooting competition hosted by the Colac Gun Club. Students from Yr 8 – Yr 11 mixed and competed with other schools from across the region whilst honing their skills in Gun Handling and Firearm Safety. Congr
