Face Coverings / Masks

DHHS Information - Face coverings for the whole of Victoria

  • From 11:59pm on Sunday 2 August, everyone in Victoria will need to wear a face covering when they leave home, unless they have a lawful exception.

  • There are lawful exceptions for not wearing a face covering, including if you have an illness or condition that makes wearing a face covering unsuitable, if you are doing strenuous exercise or if you are unable to do your job while wearing a face covering.

How will wearing a mask help?

  • If you have coronavirus (COVID-19), face coverings stop you spreading it. If you are well, face coverings protect you from getting coronavirus (COVID-19).

  • One of the many challenges of coronavirus (COVID-19) is that some people may develop symptoms later or not realise they have it. Wearing a face covering means these people are far less likely to spread the virus to other people.

What if I do not have a surgical face mask?

  • A face covering can be a cloth or surgical face mask or face shield. If a face mask is not available, other forms of face covering may be used, such as a scarf or bandana.

AT COLAC SECONDARY COLLEGE As of Monday 3 August (or once re-opened), we require all staff, students and visitors to wear a mask when onsite at our College; all day, both inside and outside of buildings. Anyone who refuses to wear a mask will be UNABLE TO REMAIN ONSITE. ## Please note; we encourage all students and staff to provide their own masks, but if you are unable to get one before school resumes this week, we as always will assist families by providing disposable masks in the interim to meet this health requirement. If you have a lawful reason for not wearing a face mask, please contact the College Front Office on telephone 5231 9800 before entering the College premises. Please don’t hesitate to contact the College if you have any queries or concerns in relation to the information provided in this letter.
