The design of the Year 7 and 8 buildings at Colac Secondary College encourages teaching and learning flexibility allowing for a range of classroom teaching arrangements.

Year 7 and 8 students will spend most of their class time within their community but will move out to dedicated buildings for specialist studies such as Science, Art and Technology.

Within the Year 7 and 8 Learning Community is the Year 7 and 8 Common room. This is a shelter and meeting place for students where they can relax during the recess and lunch breaks. It is also a space where year 7 students will find their lockers and have assemblies and meetings.

All students are actively involved in a Home Group Challenge which aims to reinforce our school values – Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Doing Your Best.

The Home Group Challenge is a positive rewards system which promotes outstanding work, both individually and team orientated, across all classes in the Year 7 and 8 Learning Community. The Home Group Challenge also promotes excellent leadership opportunities with Home Group Leaders having a voice and an active role in the decision making processes within this community.
